I fell in love with the power of makeup when I was 12 years old in the 80’s. I would watch my suddenly single mom walk into the bathroom looking tired and sometimes sad and come out looking like a beautiful, confident powerhouse. I noticed it with girls at school too, shy introverted girls who discovered makeup and transformed into social butterflies. How could some blue eye shadow, eyeliner and pink lipstick do that??

How could some blue eye shadow, eyeliner and pink lipstick do that?? I wasn’t a girly girl by any means; more of a tomboy but I was also very creative. I loved drawing, painting and bright colors. Fast forward I ditch my hockey bag and skates for a cute purse and cool kicks and begin to experiment with makeup. I read magazines, watched soap operas and went to the store to try and learn it all. In my early 20’s I decided I wanted to be a makeup artist. I recall speaking on the phone to a broadway makeup artist through a coworker and he immediately launched into a rant about how awful the job of a makeup artist was. “You work long hours, you make no money and everyone is so mean.” Needless to say, I put that dream on a shelf.

Hello, corporate America… I excelled in media sales for over 20 years. Then the universe intervened and I found myself in a situation where I knew I needed to leave my job. At 48 I enrolled in a Freelance Makeup school. I was terrified, I was the oldest student in class by A LOT. Boom, covid hit two weeks in… enough said. But I kept at it and graduated. I was ready to make my dream a reality, my age, experience and connections came into play. Personal and professional connections which proved invaluable to starting this career during a global pandemic.

I began to share my story which inspired many women, moms who wanted to go back to work, who dreamed of pursuing their second act in life. I built strong meaningful connections and relationships with just about anybody. Soon I was booked for weddings, E-comm clients, special events, headshots, family photos, charity galas, creative makeups, assisted artists for commercials, print, advertising. I followed my dreams and passions which has made me the happiest and most fulfilled I have ever been professionally.
